Entering Hand Records

The facility for hand records to be entered via the Bridgemates.

Analysing bridge results is much more meaningful if the hand records are available, and this is why many clubs invest in dealing machines.

But in the absence of a dealing machine, a club can still obtain exactly the same hand-record information, including the analysis of available tricks, player by player and suit by suit.

To do this, a club asks players to type in the details of the cards they held for each board, typically at the end of the first round. If players are running out of time they can simply skip the hand-entry process, in which case the boards in question can be entered at a subsequent table when the relevant players have a couple of minutes to spare.

Where the movement includes a half-table, hand-entry can be skipped at all playing tables, and the details can be entered by the sitting-out pair at the half-table.

At the end of the event, the pbn file containing the hand records file is exported by the Bridgemate Control Software and saved on the laptop from where it can be uploaded to the club website along with the results.
